A super fun and engaging 2.5-hour workshop that sparks your creativity!
Once you've enjoyed a calming session of mindful drawing, where the act of putting pencil to paper has allowed your thoughts to settle and your creativity to flow freely, it's time to transition into a more focused and expressive endeavor. Begin creating a portrait in the distinctive style of Pablo Picasso, a master of modern art known for his revolutionary approach to form and color. As you embark on this artistic journey, consider the key elements that define Picasso's work, such as his use of geometric shapes, fragmented perspectives, and bold color palettes.
Start by selecting a subject for your portrait—this could be a friend, a family member, or even a self-portrait.
Once you have your subject in mind, think about how you can deconstruct their likeness into basic shapes and forms.
Picasso often broke down figures into cubes and triangles, but we will be using a special technique today!
The entire process is guided, so there's no reason to worry.
As you work, remember to embrace the freedom of expression that comes with this style—don’t be afraid to exaggerate features or use unconventional colors to convey emotion and personality. As you develop your portrait further, focus on the application of color. Picasso’s Blue Period, for instance, is characterized by somber tones of blue and green, while his later works burst with vibrant hues. Decide on a color scheme that resonates
with the mood you wish to portray. Incorporate bold, contrasting colors to create a sense of movement and energy within your artwork.
